Tokyo organizers say Games will go on – No plans to cancel or postpone

No discussions about ‘canceling Olympics’ say organizers of Tokyo 2020. And there are no plans to cancel or postpone the games despite calls from a major Japanese newspaper to do so.

New Tokyo Olympic president Seiko Hashimoto said, “We have been making stable progress in regards to holding safe and secure Olympics, but I am aware that we need to put more effort into showing to the nation and the residents of Tokyo how we are going to hold safe and secure Olympics.

Tokyo 2020 CEO Toshiro Muto said, “During the executive board meeting, We talked about the fact that some people are calling for the cancelation of the Olympics. But we did not discuss whether we should cancel or postpone it.

The U.S. government will apply antivirus measures to their athletes and send them to japan under a special category. As such, it is my understanding that their athletes and stakeholders will join the games as planned.
