Olympic Softball Rules
Six teams participate in the prestigious softball competition. The organizer will use a single round-robin format. There will be five games in each round. The top two teams will move to compete for the gold medal. The third and fourth placed teams will still have the opportunity to attain the Bronze medal.
Olympics Softball History
Olympics Softball had quite a long history in the Olympics. But it is still counted as one of the youngest sports to date. Women’s Softball, for instance, did not get the exhibition or demonstration before the debut. So, it was the quick one. The debut happened in Atlanta in 1996.
The US Softball teams won the first three competitions. But then, they defeated the Japanese team in Beijing in 2008.
Australia has won medals in the last four editions of the softball competition. Meanwhile, China took silver. Japan softball teams have taken three medals in total.
Top Olympic Softball Teams at Tokyo Olympics
For the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, there are only six teams to compete in the prestigious event. Back then, in Beijing, we still remember that there were eight teams participating in Softball. We’d like to see the Japanese team in action to defend their championship.
